WARNING ALLOWING YOUR CHILDREN TO READ THIS MAY TURN THEM INTO SOCIALISTS!!!
It’s been a while, there are reasons, but I am sure you don’t care what they are so I won’t bore you with them. Starting now there will be a decidedly less friendly tone to the things I write. The message will remain the same, but gone are the days of me trying to be respectful of people of differing opinions and perspectives in the name of “fairness”. As far as I am concerned it is one minute to midnight for humanity and about one second for the United States and I can no long afford to be Mr. Nice Superior Human Being. So if you find this type of content offensive you need to fucking keep reading anyway because you are probably the people that need enlightening the most.
It is time to scrap this “grand experiment” it is time to realize that we burned the pie in the sky, it is time to round up the sheep and send them to slaughter, you had your chance and you blew it. Democracy, be it representative or otherwise is a wonderful idea, but it doesn’t work, at least not now. In order for Democracy to work we need a caliber of human being that most of us do not even come close to, and worse yet don’t aspire to. Allowing individuals to make decisions leads to chaos and disarray, given free choice people elect to poison themselves with products clearly labeled “THIS WILL FUCKING KILL YOU” which allows the equally irresponsible people to produce such products, given free choice people choose to base their lives off of messages from invisible space beings that watch all their moves and telepathically communicate with them and reward them with a bunch of pleasure after they die but only if they follow their rules and unquestioningly obey them, given free choice people choose to eat food that destroys the planet, makes them fat, sick, and stupid. Most importantly when given free choice people make decisions with no one but themselves in mind. As much as people want to think that we are 7 billion unconnected people but the reality is we are completely interdependent upon one another. I can hear people screaming now “I DON’T NEED ANYONE!!! I AM AN INDIVIDUAL AND CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF!!!” Really? Look around you, can you honestly say you didn’t need anyone to help you get to the point you are at? You are reading this on a computer or similar device, did you design the microchips that power it, form the plastic that houses it, make the wires that get power to it, engineer and build the infrastructure that allows electricity to get to it, etc… I could go on forever but instead here is an assignment: next time you eat out somewhere think about where every ingredient in your 7 layer burrito (or whatever form of deadly poison you purchase to sustain yourself) and ask yourself where everything in it came from, see just how much effort, from how many different angles went into you being able to get your 1,200 calorie treat. We are not individuals we are a part of an infinitely complex web of interdependent relationships and since we are not capable of making decisions based on the common good the decisions need to be made without the consent of the individual… which believe it or not is in their best interest.
I want a system where individuals are free to do as they desire as much as the next person, in fact it is the society that I am trying to bring about, but we are not going to get there until we start making decisions with the simple motto (that I stole from the Vulcans) “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few… or the one” we are going to continue to destroy ourselves and in order to avoid that we need to start having correct decisions be the only ones that we make, this will in turn get people used to that type of thinking and give us ALL the true liberated, anarchic freedom we all yearn for.
In the next edition (no promises on when it will be up) I will start to address some of the solutions to the problems I have outlined here. Until then, I am going to give you a reading assignment to go with the homework I gave you One City: A Declaration of Interdependence It is short, cheap, and contains a very relevant message and you would all be well served to check it out.

You are an angry rambling fool and not an anarchist. Get away from your computer, turn off your electricity, stop paying for gas, stop wearing your shoes, and practice what you preach. What is this the kindergartner’s version of the Unabomber Manifesto?
David, I could not have said it any better! This kid is “one second” away from complete melt-down. Yet another person who needs to feel superior by pushing their beliefs on other people… pretty much like the religious fanatics he berates. My only regret is I wasted 5 minutes of my life reading this trash.
I don’t need to feel superior, I am superior, it is just my natural gift. Some people are born with the ability to hit a baseball, I was born with the ability to see the way things need to be. I am being generous in offering a chance for everyone to share the benefits of this gift. Of course people like yourself can not put aside their pre formulated, ill conceived ideas about the way things should be, you can not set aside this religious belief that you are capable of making correct choices, which of course you are not and is not only the reason you need to have correct choices dictated to you, but is the whole point I so clearly made here. Thank you for helping me illustrate it.
I am not an anarchist as this post should have proven, though I think we will eventually have to end up with a true anarchist society. I am not sure what not using electricity, gas, or shoes has to do with anything… if it is because I said you need other people to attain these things making us reliant on others, not that we shouldn’t have them. Did you even read the whole thing?
Democracy substitutes election by the incompetent many for appointment by the corrupt few. ~George Bernard Shaw
See, your argument against democracy, or actually a republic in this country’s case, is actually one of its greatest strengths. People do only look out for themselves, and that never changes. Be those people voters, bureaucrats, or dictators. If your talking anarchy here, that’s a different bucket of chips, but Marxist style governments do not somehow look out for the well-being of their citizenry any more then our government; government looks out for government, and its members themselves. The rich stay rich and influential while the poor get their backs broken, although there is much less chance of changing your station based on hard work, and little incentive to do so. Capitalism works, governments cannot mandate innovation; Henry Ford wouldn’t have bothered inventing the assembly line if he didn’t think he could get rich from it. The market presented a need, and he identified and filled that need, and was rewarded for it. Furthermore, mandates from an elite few onto the masses have, historically, not had the good of the people anymore at hart, or been more even handed, then the decisions the people vote for themselves. Liberty has its downsides, sure, but when compared to the alternatives, it looks pretty darn good.
Also, I’m not entirely sure what people decided to do with their expendable income, such as fast food, has anything to do with their ability to think of others during decision making or voting. Surely you are not supporting the idea of a government-mandated diet? The Lunch Czar? I’m joking about the Lunch Czar, I would not assume you would support something so ridiculous. Seriously though, health nuts sometimes keel over from coronaries at 40, hell Atkins is dead, and some people smoke and drink into their 90s. When taken in moderation, like most other things, there is nothing wrong with a little Taco Bell, and that has nothing to do with somebody’s ability to be an informed voter. Also, these same dumb people… some of them work for government. Your IQ does not jump upon entering the capital building either. I actually read an article about obeasity problems in the congress. Apparently their work environment does not support a healthy lifestyle. (Some of them even smoke and drink).
“See, your argument against democracy, or actually a republic in this country’s case”
I did qualify that with “democracy representative or otherwise”
“Capitalism works, governments cannot mandate innovation; Henry Ford wouldn’t have bothered inventing the assembly line if he didn’t think he could get rich from it.”
That is the error in this type of thinking. It is understandable as we tend to only select from the options we have seen so far. Profit is not the only thing that motivates people, in fact profit (at least in the way we define it here) isn’t what motivates people at all, the need to survive and be comfortable is what motivates people and as long as we have a monetary system that is how people will be motivated. We need a system where progress for everyone is its own reward (which I will go into detail on in the future) Marxist states (which we have never truly seen, but that is another argument for another day) likely won’t work either… at least not at this stage of our development.
“Liberty has its downsides, sure, but when compared to the alternatives, it looks pretty darn good.”
Again you are (likely) assuming the only other options are Marxist in nature, but there are a lot of other ways this can go.
“Also, I’m not entirely sure what people decided to do with their expendable income, such as fast food, has anything to do with their ability to think of others during decision making or voting. Surely you are not supporting the idea of a government-mandated diet? The Lunch Czar? I’m joking about the Lunch Czar, I would not assume you would support something so ridiculous.”
The two points I was trying to make throughout this paragraph are A) that left to their own devices people will make decisions that are not only not in their own good, but not in the general good either. and B) That no matter how much we want to think so we are completely interdependent upon one another and need to think in such a way if we are going to continue to survive, and start to prosper up to our potential.
“Seriously though, health nuts sometimes keel over from coronaries at 40, hell Atkins is dead, and some people smoke and drink into their 90s. When taken in moderation, like most other things, there is nothing wrong with a little Taco Bell, and that has nothing to do with somebody’s ability to be an informed voter.”
These are drastic exceptions, or what I like to call the “Uncle Louie” arguments, rather than the rule. Anytime you mention the thousands and thousand of coronary deaths, deaths related to smoking, or drinking etc… someone mentions their “Uncle Louie” who smoked, drank, ate like a pig, and fucked like a sailor until he was 102. Nothing is 100% and no method is fool proof but the odds of living a productive and healthy life, which is in the best interest of everyone are very slim with this sort of lifestyle which is why it is so irresponsible and needs to stop. As for Atkins, people were screaming about how unhealthy that weight loss plan (which is different than a diet) from the day it was published people either saw this information and chose to ignore it, or did not see it and just chose to dive in, both of which are poor decisions and do not lead to the best results for them or society which is kind of the point I am trying to make about peoples decision making ability.
“Also, these same dumb people… some of them work for government. Your IQ does not jump upon entering the capital building either. I actually read an article about obeasity problems in the congress. Apparently their work environment does not support a healthy lifestyle. (Some of them even smoke and drink).”
I never excluded government officials (or myself for that matter) from these flaws. Clearly we have people that are not, how shall we say, intellectual power houses at every level of government, and it really didn’t take a study to look at them and see that they were unhealthy… Barney Frank looks like a weeble, and Bobby Jindall looks like a skeleton.
What I am really saying is that none of the “ism’s” we have tried up to this point have worked. We need to stop trying to plug the holes in our predetermined social systems and (as much as I hate this phrase) think outside the box not about how to make one ideology or another work, but how to best lead to the correct, most universally appropriate result for everyone, if we don’t, in my estimation, we are doomed.
“…we need to start having correct decisions be the only ones we make…”
This statement is your eternally ignorant flaw, my friend. You must be a youngster.
Perhaps, instead of making unfounded, ignorant, ageist comments, you could lay out the logic and reasoning as to why making correct decisions based on the facts available, logic, and deductive reasoning is an “eternally ignorant flaw”… or do you have nothing to back up your empty words?
I understand what you are saying, but your arrogance will distract people from your message. To make a blanket, general, abstract statement; democracy works, but it isn’t perfect. In fact, no government will ever be 100% perfect. And now to be direct; you are not offering solutions, only complaining. You are not the first to propose that we do away with a monetary system. Are you familiar with Jacque Fresco and ‘The Venus Project’? Jacque himself admits that his take on the resource-based economy isn’t perfect, but he acknowledges that it is better than what we have now (democracy). I am looking forward to reading your proposed changes, but you must understand that you cannot be so abstract when you detail them. Sometimes things make a lot of sense in theory, and no sense at all in practice.
PS- If a dog is walking along, and finds a 7 layer, double beef burrito laying on the ground and decides to eat it, does that mean that dogs are doomed? Does it matter that the dog doesn’t acknowledge the effort required to produce that burrito? If humans are all interconnected, then certainly we are also interconnected with dogs, and all living creatures.
Actually The Venus Project was one of the things I was going to propose. I think I have mentioned it here on the site before. I understand your point about my approach, and while it has been mostly negative, I have gotten more attention which as history has taught us will eventually lead to more support, which is really the end I am aiming for.
As for the burrito, eating it probably does doom the dog but for other reasons (see I can be light hearted also…) and acknowledgement of the effort is not what matters, it is just the fact this is how things work. To answer your question though, yes we are interconnected to everything in our environment, from the people, to the animals, everything natural, and artificial.
Thank you for a positive, yet critical response.
You are a dumbass.
That is truly useful input. Thank you.
Sure is. Hope you take it to heart.
Would you care to be a little more specific? Or do you have nothing to add outside on juvenile insults? Do you, or anyone else benefit from that?
Your “system” doesn’t work, and people need to know that weirdos like you can’t get away with posting this bullshit without being called out. Juvenile insults? How about juvenile ramblings. I think I speak for everyone above me when I say you have no idea what you are talking about.
Please explain to me how the system (which I did not lay out) doesn’t work.
And how have you called me out? All you have done is produce a string of name calling and one sentence quips while offering nothing substantive (which kind of proves my point if you think about it).
If you want to contribute, even if it is an opposing opinion, please do so constructively, as Steve up there did, otherwise please cease posting as you are not adding to the greater good.
You’re only saying that because Steve came closer than anyone to agreeing with you. Read the first couple of comments. That might enlighten you. Dumbass.
The only thing left to say to you at this point is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)
Hopefully someday we can get past “people” like you.
Oh, I get it. I’m not “people” because I don’t agree with you. Well guess what, I’m not “disrupting normal on-topic discussion,” you are. You’re trolling an entire world of intelligent political discussion with this bullshit. You have no idea what you’re saying, and you feel some weird obligation to reply to everyone who points this out to you, like the sad emotional wreck you are. To quote Bucket of Lead, “This statement is your eternally ignorant flaw.” You are in no way superior to even the lowest, most disgusting creatures that have ever tried to pass themselves off as human beings. You are INFERIOR. And, if you’re going to make pathetic attempts to insult people by linking to Wikipedia articles, you’re going to have to start this one yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dumbass
….(and almost 2 years later). Democracy is like a company that’s run by the workers and the directors go on their word. Or like a family whose decisions are made by the children and the parents are mere executors of the kids’ will. Democracy is a dirty word in politics. It does not work in politics, nor does it work in any other type of social interaction.
The most powerful governments on earth have understood this and know that to fraternize with democracy would only lead to the nation being weakened domestically and globally. Western nations like the US and UK have almost perfected the art of creating a believable, superficial democracy so as not to leave their population feeling alienated from the course the country takes, despite the people actually having little input in the decisions that matter.
China, Russia and Iran, for example, have adopted an ‘either you are with us or you’re a traitor’ policy which, to their detriment, exposes them to the hypocritical condemnations of the US and UK. The erratic decisions democracy makes room for will bankrupt and bring a nation to its knees. A prolonged one-minded, single-course oriented strategy is the key to greatness and stability
Whoever wrote this is logical with all thoughts. He pointed out the flaws and backs them with strong arguments, which i agree with.
But it isnt democracy that is the problem it is the people implementing the democracy.
Ill agree some people are apathetic, also ill agree with that a lot of people want to be informed but they don’t have the will to sit down and read something, so what happens is since reading takes up their time and effort they watch cable news and some don’t even do that and they just go by hear say. The Problem is they are not informed and will make illogical decisions that hurts people besides themselves.
The US needs a change in the system. Some people can’t make it to the polls because they work the night shift and sleep when the polls are open, some have kids and it’s a hassle. There is a myriad of problems with the current system but it is not democracy that is the problem it is the type of system that we have created that causes people to have these problems.
That all being said (that people have these problems and they don’t vote or do it with accurate information) that would mean that isn’t a democracy because it is not full participation of the people (if they are misinformed they participating in an undemocratic process). I actually think youre making a argument for democracy and pointing out how our (US) system isnt democratic.
Also why would the original article make anyone socialist(maybe an National Sozialistische Deutsch Arbeiter-Partei aka Nazi)?
I thought socialism is just the government taking control of private property, the people still dictate how everything is allocated.
In my humble opinion parrallax sounds like Hitler because Hitler’s weltanschuung (worldview) was that the Furher is always right (and the Jews were the problem). Focusing on the first part i associate parrallax thoughts with one who is the supreme ruler will always make right decisions for the country (like Hitler). Also in parrallax comments. Whats this whole thing that we should be thankful that youre gifting us with your knowledge? Sounds to me there is some prejudice tension going on here towards some group of people thinking that they are always incapable of making a right choice. Where did you learn all your knowledge from and what is it exactly? Euthyphros problem haha
