The American public seems to be torn over the stimulus money. While I agree the economy needs to be spurred on. I am not sure that the little bit of cash the working public should receive in their pay is the best way.
It seems to me that each state needs to take their share of the money and create jobs for the unemployed people in their state. A wide range of ideas come to mind. For example– build government sponsored nursery schools with rates that the working class can afford. That idea wins in two ways, it would put people to work building these schools, people would be put to work running these schools and the working class would have a safe place to leave their children.
Other ideas include, and I get this idea from an example set during the great depression. Put people to work building public parks, cleaning up along public roads and so on.
Also it seems that the nation needs reasonably priced care facilities for the elderly.
These are just some of my ideas, there are many other ways to create jobs and put people back to work. And when you put people back to work the economy will slowly get back on track.
