Newt Gingrich hates the beast he helped make
As Newt Gingrich watches the morons of the right wing tack even further to the right in moronic attempts to pass some sort of ideological purity test. Newt must weep as he watches Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, and Mark Sanford all do their best to screw their states over and not take the stimulus money that congress passed and Obama signed into law.
Newt has been on TV talking about a possible third party existing in 2012. The reason I think he’d want such a thing to exist is that he knows he can not run for President as a Republican and both win the Republican Party’s nomination and be elected President. He knows he can not do this for a simple reason.
Nobody can.
The Republican Party has spent all it’s time since 1994 doing all it can to invent a fake world for its followers to believe in. In this world, a blowjob is grounds for impeachment, Al Gore said he invented the internet and made up Global Warming. Bill Clinton sold our military technology to the Chinese, and let Osama Bin Laden get away when the Syrian government offered him up. The liberal media worked night and day to hide the truth of our overwhelming success in Iraq,
From them came the Swift Boaters from the 2004 election, a gang of lying thugs who existed only to damage the personal credibility of John Kerry such that George W. Bush could be elected again. These scumbags even had a man who won a metal in the same combat action Kerry won one of his ‘undeserved’ metals in. When this was brought up, the guy claimed he ‘forgot’.
From this absurdity comes the “birther’s” who I talked about last time. The idiots who buy guns at a mark-up because “Obama’s going to take them away”. The people who are deeply offended when Michelle Obama puts her arm around the queen, but didn’t so much as shrug when Bush gave the leader of Germany a shoulder rub she clearly didn’t want.
These brain-dead fucktard maniacs are the GOP base that Newt and his ilk have created. It was Gingrich in 1994 with his ‘contract for America’ that began a new page in gutter politics in America with his word lists suggesting terms to use for democratic opponents, words such as “Traitors” “sick” “destructive” and of course “Liberal”.
Newt, Right wing talk radio, FOX News, work as best they can to push these ideas into the mainstream media and often times are successful, but currently their ideas are so out of the mainstream, so far gone that it’s gone from being attempts at damaging Obama, into really just being a train wreck.
Glenn Beck weeping on TV that he loves his country but fears for it. Lou Dobbs decrying impending socialism. Hannity, Rush and O’Reilly merely existing, all of this is a cocoon for the far right maniacs to live in.
Currently the percentage of people in this country that call themselves Republicans is at 26%, according to a poll by Harris research. That’s basically where Bush’s support was when he left office. John McCain, about the only man able to not be stuck with the Bush mantle from the GOP nomination given his bruising primary battle with Bush in 2000, still was crushed in the general election by Barack Obama.
Who of the ‘leading lights’ of the Republican party can appeal the zealots that will be voting in the primaries, the people who think taking the stimulus money was a bad idea, that will still think in 2012 that Obama will take their guns, that he’s not American. While that might be good for the GOP primaries, it’s going to be impossible to marry these lunatics to the folks of the ‘mushy middle’ and form a winning election coalition.
Gingrich’s 2012 third party idea is basically an attempt to get around the nut jobs that vote Republican. The folks who have been led astray by the endless bullshit put forth by the right wing noise machine. Gingrich is trying to present himself and his vision as a sane form of the GOP, the only problem is that they are wed to the crazies; they need them to win elections.
The major problem with the crazies and the Republican Party is that instead of reigning them in, they are encouraging them to go even more insane. The question is, “How many elections will the Republicans have to lose before they quit pushing themselves further to the right?” When will they finally say ‘enough’ and finally try to pull themselves back into a reality based world? Can Newt’s third party fight the push back from Beck/Rush et all and create a viable intelligent conservative party? Or will he have to accept that the monster he helped create can not be stopped and now will keep the Republicans in the political wilderness for at least the next 8 years, if not longer?

Glad you mentioned that “contract for America” in ’94.
I remember the whole charade of standing on the steps of the Capitol – Gingrich leading the pack.
We’ve had nothing but government programs getting weaker & lack of world respect SINCE THEN!
Yes. There are a lot of G.O.P. people that blame legislation from this era (by democrats Barney Frank and others) for the current housing “crisis” and claim they couldn’t do anything about it since they had a majority but not a filibuster proof majority. That is ridiculous of course, if you feel that strongly against something, make them talk all night, make them argue their hearts out and when they are done you still say “Screw you the bill fails” they are a pathetic lot.
I have political respect for Newt. He created a list of issues and made good on his promise ot bring them to a vote. He helped end the regular delivery of ice to congressional offices (a government program that had been in place since before refrigerators were invented). He exposed the scandal that was the House Post Office. He is a history professor. He helped “shut down” the federal government and created a surplus thereby (a large amount of our tax dollars are wasted in the months of November and December; by shutting down the federal government at that time it saved us billions of dollars) If only we coould shut down the federal government every November and December, we would start running surplusses every year. unfortunately then the bureaucrats would waste our money in September & October.
This is some outstanding spinning. The shut down of government was seen as a huge political blunder that Gingrich suffered greatly for.
Exactly how are our tax dollars wasted in the months of November and December? Exactly what seasonal events happen such that allow wasteful spending to be made during that period of time?
And now you’re going to credit that 2 month shutdown with the massive Clinton surplus of the budget? This is the fantastic, fact free logic that is what is killing the Republican party.
Obama remarked on inertia today in his address to Turkey government body: paraphrase – democracies can not stand still they must always be moving forward
Thank you for your comment.
I agree with the president’s statement, though I would broaden it to say that all societies must always be working for progress. This is a global team effort and is one of the things that President Obama seems to understand somewhat.
‘always moving forward’ on a lighter note sounds slightly like describing how the longevity of sharks came about
it is a great speech – at youtube already
Sounds great. Would you mind posting a link for us?
